Marchese Italian Market

To ensure that you are not disappointed with the quality of your Italian dessert, be sure to check that it is made in Italy.

Italian sweets makers listed on this website all follow a strict "Code of Practice," which defines the types of ingredients, production process, and labeling prerequisites they may use. This is a part of a program spearheaded by the Italian Confectioners Association, whose aim is to preserve, safeguard, and promote centuries-old Italian cookie and cake recipes.

Especially protected products are amaretti, colomba, pandoro, panettone, and savoiardi. The Italian government has classified these particular confections with Denominazione Riservata status. In essence, what that means is that for a company to call a product by the names "amaretti, "colomba, "pandoro, "panettone, or "savoiardi," they must be made according to a very strict set of criteria. Specific rules dictate every facet of their production including baking methods and the quality and quantity of key ingredients used.

A teacher and then attorney, Ferraro worked in the Queens, New York District Attorney's office, where she started the Special Victims Bureau. Ferraro ran successfully for Congress from New York City's 9th District in 1978. There, she was a women's and human rights advocate, working for passage of the Equal Rights Amendment, sponsoring the Women's Economic Equity Act ending pension discrimination against women, and seeking greater job training and opportunities for displaced homemakers.

Ferraro quickly rose from Queens District Attorney's Office to her neighborhood's House representative and, in 1984, gained fame as Democratic presidential candidate Walter Mondale's running mate. In her acceptance speech, she spoke of the realization of the American dream:

"Tonight, the daughter of an immigrant from Italy has been chosen to run for vice president in the new land my father came to love..."

Geraldine Ferraro, was the first major Italian American and first female candidate to be featured in a prominent political ticket, Vice President of the United States. Although the VP ticket lost, Ferraro's candidacy forever reshaped the American political and social landscape. She was also one of New York's most powerful congresswomen.

On Saturday, March 26 at age 75, Geraldine Ferraro, this great Italian American passed away after years of battling cancer.

As the title is stating I’m referring more to the fact that we introduce our line of seasoning and natural extract.

The use of plants as herbs has been important to all cultures since long before history was recorded.

In the ancient world, herbs were largely medicinal or spiritual, and were grown or gathered easily. Spices were a luxury item and, consequently, one of the world's most valuable trade goods. They were light and didn't require special preservation like other foods. That, combined with their multiple uses, made spices a hot commodity. And today, while we still use spices for dyes, medicines, and cosmetics, their most beloved characteristic is their flavor.

If you like cooking, eating or just natural flavor, you can’t pass a good use of spices.

I investigate several brands and I found the one we are proposing, so intriguing, rich and easy to use following some recipes or just the inspiration that they will drive you on for more cooking and experimenting in the kitchen…

In any venture there are always setbacks…Today unfortunately was one of those days. After many months of planning and negotiation, our local site in Virginia Beach will have to wait a little longer. So it is back to the drawing board. The good news is that after the many administrative part of starting a business, we are weeks from launching our website officially. For every setback there is always a ray of hope, so as they say in Italy, AVANTI!
